Eagle Approaches by Ken Kirkby

The Eagle Transformation Mask opens to reveal it inner being, dancing as the Canoe approaches. Ken paints Robert Davidson’s Mask in true Kirkby style. I’m stunned by the presence this image has.
To see a great mask danced is a very powerful sight. Seeing them brought to life in Ken’s work is very moving, because it’s a living culture, and often that gets left out when you see a mask on the wall.
It’s meant to be danced – in Haida culture, the dance is just as sacred as the Mask.
