The story of how Ken came to live among the Inuit is told very well in his best selling biography, Ken Kirkby ; A Painter’s Quest for Canada. His Inuit Grandmother (adopted) asked him to go to ‘downtown Canada’ meaning Ottawa, to tell them what he had seen, and that would change everything. It was her assertion that the Government of Canada couldn’t possibly know anything of the Inuit people or they wouldn’t act that way.
